LIGHT IT UP!
On the outskirts of Downtown – okay, tucked into the trees four miles west of Australian Ave. beneath the baggage-filled bellies of aircraft on approach to PBIA – lies the magnificent Mounts Botanical Garden. Sure, you’ve heard of it because its talented publicist is the peripatetic Gary Schweikhart, but chances are you’ve either never been there, or it’s been way too long.
Time to fix that, because you won’t be able to resist this.
Every evening throughout the holiday season, Mounts will open its gates for visitors to wander through a tropical winter wonderland of thousands of sparkling lights. ‘Tis the season of wow factor, which actually is always in season at Mounts. But these awe-inspiring, holiday-themed LED light installations will illuminate walkways, structures and plantings with dazzling displays then create an easy-to-follow, wonder-filled route through 15 different areas of this spectacular garden. Add holiday programming on certain nights and you get unforgettable family fun…. for ten bucks or less!
November 24-December 30, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; $10 per person; $5 for children ages 5 to 12; $8 for Mounts members. Tickets available online at mounts.org or at the main gate.
